Moominworld is a theme park for children and whole family in Finland. It is the second most popular place in Finland for families with children, after the residence of Santa Claus in Rovaniemi. While the idea for the world of the Moomins originated in the overwhelming days of the Winter War (a conflict between the Soviet Union and Finland that lasted from 1939-1940) and her first book, The white, hippo-like Moomins are Finnish literature characters created by the much‐loved Swedish‐speaking Finn, writer and artist Tove Jansson in the 1940’s. After the initial success of the comic strips and books, Moomins grew into a world-wide phenomenon through puppet animations, theatre shows and Japanese-style cartoons. Twenty new Moomin songs were produced in Finland by Timo Poijärvi and Ari Vainio in 2006. This Finnish album contains no original lyrics by Jansson. However, it is based on the novel, Comet in Moominland, and adheres to the original stories. Moominland Midwinter (Swedish title Trollvinter) is the fifth in the series of Tove Jansson's Moomins books, published in 1957.
